Quality Manchester & Lakeland Terriers

We are a small home based hobby breeder; dedicated to the sport of purebred dogs, beginning in 1992 with the purchase of our first purebred dog a Rottweiler. During the summer of '96 while attending a dog show in Northern Ontario, spotted a handsome Black-n-Tan Terrier during Terrier Group Judging. I was mesmerized by the outline, elegance and the obvious power of such a small compact dog. Was tempted by fate upon learning this male had recently sired a litter in which one female show puppy was available. Within a month our girl Kayle arrived. This decision ultimately would see us concentrating primarily with the Manchester Terrier both at home as companions and ofcourse breeding & exhibiting.

Over the ensuing years Kreuzritter Manchester Terriers have achieved success in a variety of venues both here in Canada and the USA. We have produced dogs that have been successful at all levels of the dog fancy: Best in Shows(Cdn & Am), Best Puppy in Show, Terrier Group winners (Cdn & Am), National & Terrier Group Specialties, Puppy Sweepstakes (both National Speciatly & All Breed), Top Producers - Register of Merit, Hall of Fame, Top Obedience and Agility contenders.

Our dogs live in our home "we do not have a kennel facility".  My experiences with the breed is that Manchesters more so than some breeds crave human companionship. The puppies whelping box for the first few weeks of life is located in our bedroom and when they are ready to discover all that life has to offer, are then moved to the active living area of the house.  Socialization is important during the early stages therefore we ensure the puppies encounter as much positive stimuli prior to leaving for their new homes.  While the Manchester is a relatively healthy breed I do feel it is important to check/test for the more common genetic conditions.  For further information on the general health of the Manchester Terrier breed please check out the Canadian Manchester Terrier Club website.

In the fall of 2003 we welcomed a Lakeland Terrier into our home. Having always been a "closet" Lakeland fan, In the past had hesitated due to the lack of knowledge on grooming a coated Terrier. When I was presented with the opportunity to not only become the owner of a adorable little red girl (Ginger) but also the promise of grooming assistance along the way, simply could not resist! Our journey with this delightful breed has only just begun. Already having seen our Lakies awarded at all levels, the future should prove to be exciting.

Show/companion puppies are available occasionally to approved homes.  Litters are done primarily to reinforce or incorporate desired traits into our breeding program.  It should be noted that litters are done on a limited basis, sometimes only one litter being born here per year. We welcome inquiries whether it is simply about the lines overall traits, general breed questions or more specifically the availability of puppies in future litters.

When you browse through our webpage you will find the dogs that over the years have made us very proud, not all the dogs reside here in our home and most of the credit must go to the owners who have done so much to ensure each of them reach their potential, not just in the Kennel Club events but also as a loving member of their family.
